It was a breezy and chilly morning when I met with the R family but that didn’t stop us from having a great time together. I met them for their portrait session at Glen Echo Park, one of my favorite locations for family portraits. There are so many nooks and crannies that create beautiful backdrops for your portraits. Because of the weather, I didn’t want the kids to have to walk all over so we decided to stay on the bridge and next to my favorite wall.
Two weeks after our time together at the park, we got to meet again! This time, we were getting together for the big reveal of the images from their session. Here are some of the things we do during an ordering appointment:
- Sort your images into 3 piles: yes, no, or maybe. I know, it sounds difficult! And a question I hear a lot is “How could I ever say no?” But you’ll see, once we have a focus on what area of your home you are planning to decorate with your family portraits, the decisions become just a bit easier to make.
- Decide on wall art and gift prints. You are not going to want every image on the wall and I won’t ever ask you to do that! We will narrow down to your favorites and decide together what sizes best match the area. I bring sample sizes with me so you can see the size in person. This also helps you get an idea of which sizes work best together for wall galleries.
The entire ordering session lasts about 60 minutes. Yes, you have to make all decisions during that time but that should not scare you at all! I’m there to guide you, share ideas, and most of all, I’m there to listen. I’ll listen to your questions, your debate over decisions for choices, and your debate over where the portraits should go. When we finish and are wrapping up, nothing means more to me than you being increasingly excited to have those portraits in your hand—and on your wall!
This is the wall gallery the R family decided on during their ordering session—love it!
